Reconstruction of a house for an artist
RatkaThe design of the house represents a sophisticated reconstruction of a historic living space. The underlying theme of this project is to preserve the authentic character of the house almost unchanged, with an emphasis on widening the door and window openings to create open portals and contribute to an airy and natural atmosphere. The living loft becomes a new cosy retreat for the parents' bedroom and the daughter's bedroom, creating a harmonious and functional space. The overall design concept focuses on maintaining the authenticity of the house while taking an economical approach to the overall design. The chamfered plaster reveals the true character of the centuries-old brick that dominates throughout the interior, contributing to the historic charm. The renovation of the house is not only an aesthetic intervention, but also creates a welcoming home for a young family, where it is important to preserve the original features. The concept of the project addresses the connection between the living room and the kitchen, the 600 mm height difference between them is elegantly solved by a staircase. In the lower part of the house there is a dedicated space for an artist's studio, located next to the basement, providing an ideal framework for creative work and relaxation. Efforts have been made to enlarge every structural opening in order to optimize the light conditions throughout the house, creating a pleasant and natural environment. The material concept is based on natural materials, which are carefully selected to preserve the authenticity of the house. Every element of the project is thoughtfully designed and takes into account not only the aesthetics, but also the functionality and traditional character of this historic house. The renovation of the old house creates a harmony between modern living and respect for its historic roots. The red roof, together with the cream eaves and wooden windows, create an interplay of new materials, while the pink cellar door, designed by the investor's daughter, becomes a dominant element on the south facade.
