Winery family house

Pezinok

The house with a drive-through represents an architectural concept of a house with two distinguishable sides - public and private. The public side faces the street, where the houses form a continuous façade and contribute to the unified character of the street. The dominant element of the crossing is the gateway, which serves as a passageway and is both the identity of the house and the character of the entire street. The gateway is designed as a strong expressive element, creating visually interesting articulation, perforations and detailing. In order to meet contemporary requirements, the gate is designed as a sectional gate with a movement mechanism. In terms of screening and intimacy, street-facing windows can be screened with exterior roller shutters. The passageway remains an unheated space that serves as a parking space, storage space and summer kitchen. In order to strengthen the connection between the interior and exterior, we added an entrance terrace that faces the garden. By enlarging the openings, it allows more light into the space. The terrace was constructed from a prefabricated 10 m³ rainwater storage tank, which not only minimizes the construction volume, but also serves as a water reservoir for the garden during the dry season. The layout of the house is divided into a day and night section, with a functional central tract for the background and entrance. The cellar is used as a space for processing the harvest and storing tools, with a connection to the original wine cellar. Another smaller room serves as a HVAC with connection to the chimney. From the street of the building we leave an authentic expression, from the garden we create more opportunities and space to interact with the exterior. The overall design of the house reflects and supports the original concept and materials of the house.
